Yes, that's right! A new 6 week hoop dance and fitness class will start Thursday 2 March 2017 in Greytown at the Kuranui College Dance Studio! Aimed at all levels, you will discover the joys, fun and oodles of benefits of hooping. We'll work that core, strengthen those legs, power up those arms and give our brains a boost to-boot! You'll feel refreshed, energised and happy!
Classes start at 7.30pm and last an hour. Hoops are supplied. Just bring yourself, a bottle of water, and some comfortable clothes (like the type you'd wear for yoga or a walk with friends) and be prepared for a workout with a difference!

In week 2 you guys were pretty awesome and started to explore inching that hoop above your waist! Remember, start with waist hooping in your favourite current, then make movement above the hoop, and the hoop will start to travel! Stand tall, think tall, try and lock off the movement below your waist, and make some crazy shapes in the air like you just don't care.... that hoop will start to creep up! It's hard work so take care, be kind to yourself, and just slowly build up that strength and movement. We'll be practicing over the coming weeks, so don't stress!
We also explored some wonderful strengthening off body moves:
- Hand spin (L shaped arm, elbow nipped in at the waist, L shaped hand)
- Propeller (180 degrees twist of each hand)
- The Yes You Can-Can (the propeller but with added legs!)
- The baseline pass (around and around... and remember, knuckles up knuckles up!)
I have been pretty hopeless with the videos so far, but I hope to get something done for you today/tomorrow!
Week 3 this Thursday, 7.30pm at Kuranui College Dance Studio! And we are going to FLOW! I've got a little flow routine in the making that will get us practicing all the moves we've learnt in the last couple of weeks and putting them together in ways that make us feel and look super groovy, baby!! I can't wait to see you all! x
